Samsung Omnia 7 is going to be one of the first smartphones with Microsoft's new operating system Windows Phone 7. The phone is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm CPU (Snapdragon) on a 4-inch touch screen. Samsung Omnia 7, together with eight other models from manufacturers including HTC, Dell, and LG are getting ready for the WP7 launch.
As it happens, all of them are equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon CPU, the Omnia 7's case specifically the QSD8250 which is currently found in a couple of Android phones as well, namely the Google Nexus One and HTC Desire. Samsung's Omnia 7 has an attractive 4-inch screen in the Super AMOLED format with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, 8 gigabytes of internal memory, 1500 mAh battery and support for WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1.
According to the manufacturer, the battery lasts for up to 370 minutes talk time and 330 hours standby. Microsoft is investing heavily in multimedia in its new operating system, and this is reflected in the Omnia 7 by a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. It also supports 720p video at 25 fps. You'll find support for playback of DivX, Xvid, and a built-in FM radio, and in addition to the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack there are also stereo speakers with DNSe technology for better sound reproduction.
